Welcome to Solon
A family-oriented suburb with an emphasis on community.
Southeast of the bustling city of Cleveland, Ohio, the city of Solon rests among the hilly and wooded landscapes in perfect suburbian harmony. Frequently topping lists of best cities to live in and recognized by Bloomberg Magazine and Money Magazine, Solon is often seen as the Cleveland Metropolitan Area’s best suburb.
Solon was first settled in 1820 and then fully incorporated as a city in 1961. Much of the area’s growth can be attributed to its vicinity to Cleveland, which was known as the railroad hub of the nation. When a section of the Cleveland and Mahoning Railroad was established in Solon, the population blossomed, and soon after, the town was connected by highway to other nearby cities.
Solon’s housing is varied, and residents can choose from a large array of styles and prices. Some examples of those styles include contemporary new builds, single-family Tudor homes, historic houses over a century old, mid-50s ranches, and even sprawling nine-bedroom estates tucked on five or more acres of land. There’s a little something for everyone in Solon.
